Camp Read-A-Lot
Helping students become and stay proficient readers is one of the schoolwide goals at USD 392. In 2018, with assistance from a Dane G. Hansen summer reading grant, "Camp Read-A-Lot" was established as a summer literacy program for youth in the community. This program is hosted in the school library in conjunction with the USDA free summer lunch program. The objective of this program is to continue to engage young readers and keep their minds active over the summer months.
The county foundation awarded the school funding to assist in this program. "Without funding, we would not have been able to offer the activities that the participants were extremely passionate about. They absolutely loved all of the resources we were able to purchase because of this grant," said grantee Mindy Miller.
