FLIGHT SQUAD COMES TO ASSEMBLY FUNDRAISER A LETTER FROM GRANTEE STACEY JACKSON
Thanks to the generous grant support from the Osborne County Community Foundation (OCCF), our organization, Bringing it Home to OZ, Inc. (BIHTO) was able to bring “The Flight Squad” to town on Oct. 24, 2019! The Flight Squad is an exhibition premier basketball team comprised of highly talented, former professional and Division 1 athletes who have played for U.S. and overseas teams. BIHTO hosted a fund-raising exhibition game with the “Flight Squad” against a mish-mash team of local “celebrities,” comprised of area business owners and/or employees – known as “The Hot Shots.”
The exhibition game proved to be highly entertaining, well-attended, and provided a great evening of family fun for everyone. We were also very excited to be able to offer a school assembly with the “Squad” earlier in the day which included the Osborne, Lakeside, Natoma and Tipton schools in the Osborne High School new gym. We had close to 400 students in attendance!
These young men come from very different backgrounds, and now use their career spreading a positive message to the youth of the nation wherever they go. The players not only entertained during the assembly, by combining dancing with high-energy music and basketball skills, but relayed important messages with regard to education, hope, respect, saying no to drugs, overcoming adversity, and anti-bullying. We cannot thank OCCF enough for their continued support of our events and programs!
