County foundation accepting fall grant applications

OSBORNE, Kan.—The Osborne County Community Foundation is accepting applications for fall grants. Online applications open September 1 and are due Sunday, November 1, 2020.

In 2019, the Osborne County Community Foundation awarded USD 272 a grant to purchase five new sewing machines for their FACs class. With a nearly full class of 37 students, the old machines were not able to keep up with the students’ needs for quality stitches. The new Bernina 325 machines offer 40 different stitches, an auto-button holder and an embroidery setting with the alphabet.

“The sewing machines will be able to sew projects with ease. We will be able to produce quality sewing products with these new machines,” said grantee Cassi Walsh.

This cycle, grants are available to charitable projects in Osborne County. Grants will fund local community projects that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Programs and projects that address education, health care, community social services and security, conservation and environment, arts and culture, and community beautification
  • Projects that improve the quality of life for Osborne County residents

Funding for the fall grant cycle is provided by the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund and the Osborne County Community Fund. Grants will be awarded through a competitive application process. Nonprofit organizations, government and public entities, educational institutions and churches are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on November 1.
